ABOUT OVERACTIVE BLADDER
O veractive bladder happens when the bladder m uscle squeezes too
often or when you don't want it to. You m ay have wetting accidents
(urge urinary incontinence). You m ay have a strong need to urinate
right away (urgency). You may also have to go too often (frequency).
WHO ISTOVIAZ FOR?
W ho can take TOVIAZ?
A d u lts

years and old er w ith sym ptom s o f overactive bladder.
T O V IA Z has not been studied in children.
W ho should not take TOVIAZ?
D o not take T O V IA Z i f you:
•
A re not able to em pty your bladder (urinary retention).
•
Your stom ach em pties slow ly (gastric retention).
•
H ave an eye problem called "uncontrolled narrow -angle
glau co m a."
•
A re allergic to T O V IA Z or any o f its ingredients.
BEFORE YOU START TOVIAZ
Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including:
•
Stom ach or intestinal problem s or problem s with constipation.
•
Problem s em ptying your bladder or i f you have a w eak urine
stream.
•
Treatm ent for an eye problem called narrow -angle glaucom a.
•
K idney problem s.
•
L iver problem s.
•
A condition called m yasthenia gravis.
•
If you are pregnant or trying to becom e pregnant.
It is not known i f T O V IA Z can harm your unborn baby.
•
If you are breastfeeding. It is not known if T O V IA Z passes
into your breast m ilk or if it can harm your baby.
Before starting on TO VIA Z, tell your doctor about all the
medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription
medicines, vitamins and herbal products.
T O V IA Z m ay affect
the w ay other m edicin es w ork, and other m edicines m ay affect
how T O V IA Z w orks. E sp ecially tell you r doctor i f you are
taking antibiotics or antifungal m edicines.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF TOVIAZ
T he m ost com m on side effects are:

D ry mouth
•
Constipation
TOVIAZ m ay c a u se other less com m on side effects, including:
•
D ry eyes
•
Trouble em ptying the bladder
T h ese are not all o f the possible side effects o f T O V IA Z .

HOW TO TAKE TOVIAZ
•
Take T O V IA Z exactly as your doctor tells you.
•
Your doctor m ay give you the lower

dose o f T O V IA Z if you have certain medical
conditions, such as severe kidney problem s.
•
Take T O V IA Z with liquid and swallow the
tablet whole. Do not chew, divide or crush the
tablet.
•
You can take T O V IA Z with or without food.
•
If you m iss a dose o f T O V IA Z , begin taking
T O V IA Z again the next day. D o not take two
doses o f T O V IA Z in the sam e day.
T hings you should keep in mind w hen
taking TOVIAZ:
•
U se caution in driving, operating machinery,
or doing other dangerous activities until you
know how T O V IA Z affects you. Blurred
vision and drowsiness are possible side
effects o f m edicines such as T O V IA Z .
•
U se caution in hot environm ents. D ecreased
sweating and severe heat illness can occur
when m edicines such as T O V IA Z are used in
a hot environment.
•
D rinking alcohol w hile taking m edicines such
as T O V IA Z m ay cause increased drowsiness.
What is TOVIAZ?
T O V IA Z is a prescription m edicine used in
adults
to treat sym ptom s o f a condition called
overactive bladder,
including:
•
U rge urinary incontinence— leaking or wetting
accidents due to a strong need to urinate.
•
U rinary urgency— having a strong need to
urinate right away.
•
Urinary frequency— having to urinate too often.
